Residence Permit

If you love Turkey and want to make it your home or stay longer than the permitted 90 days in 180 days you will need to apply for a Residence Permit.  Our guide to the residence application procedure is shown below and we are happy to assist you with the process when you are ready to apply.

Long-Term Residence Permit

This type of permit is suitable for anyone who has eight continuous years on a Turkish Residence Permit and have not spent more than 120 days in any 12-month period outside of the country

Short-Term Residence Permit

This type of permit is suitable for anyone who wishes to stay in Turkey for longer than 90 days and can last for a maximum of 2 years

Family Residence Permit

This type of permit is available for a maximum of 3 years and there is no limit of the number of children under the age of 18 that can be included in a family residence permit but all passports must be valid for the duration of the permit applied for plus 60 days.

Student Residence Permit

This type of permit is available for students for up to 12 months but will only be issued with a letter of consent from the parent or legal guardian.

For all residence permit applications, you will need for following documents:
A valid passport that is valid for the duration of the permit plus 60 days, this needs to be photocopied in colour together with a photocopy of the page with your last visa entry stamp.
4 Colour biometic passport size photographs
Mandatory Health Insurance for each applicant under the age of 65
Proof of address, this is available from the Numerataj Office
If you are applying for a Family Permit you need a Marriage Licence of Certificate, proof of sufficient funds for the duration of the permit and valid health insurance for family members under the age of 65

New rules for 2022 state that ALL new applications for a first time Residency Permit, regardless of location or nationality will only be granted a 6 month permit.

To apply for your residence permit you will need to visit the E-Ikamet website https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/ and fill in the online application form.  This can only be completed if you are inside Turkey.  Choose the ‘Application for Extension’ tab if you are renewing your permit or ‘First Application’ for all other applications.  Once you have completed the form you can book your appointment with your nearest DGMM office. All fields on the form that are highlighted in red must be completed and once you have booked your appointment you can print off and sign the form which you need to take with you to your appointment along with your supporting documents which will be listed on the bottom of the application form.
