Turkish Citizenship

A foreign national can obtain Turkish Citizenship when purchasing a property with a value of at least 400,000 USD. This amount was changed in May 2022 from 250,000 due to the increase in Turkish property prices and the high demand for property.

This was first introduced in 2017 as a way for foreigners to acquire Turkish Citizenship through property investment to trigger foreign real estate investment.
One condition when buying a property in Turkey that grants citizenship is that the property cannot be transferred to another person or sold for a minimum of 3 years.

Having Turkish Citizenship allows you and your family to live, work and study in Turkey and since a citizenship is given to the whole family, any children are permitted to have access to the Turkish education system. Once you have invested 400,000 $ into Turkish Property you are then entitled to apply for a Turkish passport which is normally issued within a few months of applying.

Although the amount to obtain Turkish Citizenship is 400,000 $ it does not need to be just one property.  You are permitted to invest in real estate be it a villa for sale, apartment for sale or land and can be multiple properties although they do need to be in the same district.  You can also generate an income should you wish to buy investment properties for the rental market.

We can guide you through each step of the process of obtaining your Turkish Citizenship when you buy real estate Turkey.
